Retiring on the 1st of January this year, founder and CEO John Collyear has departed after 20 years at Vantage Insurance Services.
Having started his career as a broker at Lloyd’s in 1978, John leaves Vantage with more than 40 years’ experience in the insurance industry. He was recruited by a Lloyd’s Syndicate in 1983 and then in 1989, at the age of 27, he became a director of Castle Underwriting Agency and set up his own syndicate, becoming one of the youngest underwriters at Lloyd’s of London. In 1998 he joined Euclidian where his underwriting career continued until he led an MBO with Jamie Stuart in 1999 to buy what is now Vantage Insurance Services.
“After more than 20 amazing years with Vantage it’s time for me to move on. I have had the privilege of getting to know and working with many outstanding people at Vantage and latterly NSM and I wish them every success for the future.”
Jacquie Boast takes over all responsibilities for the UK business as group CEO of Vantage Holdings. Jacquie joined VHL in July 2019 as Group COO to lead a transformation and change programme across all UK subsidiaries.
“I want to thank John for handing me the reins to the VHL business which has great market presence, skilled and motivated employee base and a growing portfolio of niche products and clients.
I look forward to driving the business growth to its next level and working alongside all the Vantage Group employees to transform the company into the leading UK Niche Broking and MGA business with the full support of the NSM team.”
Vantage was bought by US broker NSM in December 2016. Since then the business has made a number of key acquisitions including Maybury James and motor MGA Xpekt. Our most high profile deal was the purchase of specialist personal lines broker Fresh Insurance in 2017.
Everyone at Vantage and VHL would like to thank John for his years of dedication to the business. We wish him well for the future and a very happy retirement.
